If you hold already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to introduction the file again.

If that doesn't work, here is another insight - mp4 is extension used when I convert movies for my iPod meaning it could (and should) be open in QuickTime. Try to install that. Here is your interconnect:

Codecs have one nice behavior - if you install one codec for one software, it usually works contained by all programs who might want to use it. So after installing QT the video should work surrounded by moviemaker (assuming the mp4 format was the one for QT )
