Why woun't my firewire and my video camera cooperate? I keep plugging my firewire into my video camera

I keep plugging my firewire into my video camera (Sony handycam DCR-HC52/HC54) because I want to gag my videos and put some on youtube. But whenever I plug my firewire into my computer nought happens. Do I enjoy to press a special button on my desktop, or on my camera. Or do I have a substandard wire. Please back. This is driving me insane!

Are you using the software that come with the camera?? What operating system is on your PC?? Have you consulted the Sony support site for your camcorder?? Is your camcorder accepted on another PC?? Try the Sony support site. They have online tutorials and live serve if needed. See the link below>>>>>>> Are you using firewire or USB? I know you said firewire, but there have been some confusion - USB and firewire are not impossible to tell apart. There is no firewire cable in the box, it requests to be purchased separately.

Your computer needs a firewire port. Many Windows computers do not enjoy one - but on can generally be added inexpensively.
