I have a camera approaching that, and I want to put some of the footage on my computer, but don't know how to. Does anyone know how to get it from the dvd to the computer?

ask me another OK here, if you bought the right camcorder, it should enjoy a USB and you can start right up with that if you own Windows Movie Maker. If it didn't, you're basically screwed. Try to find a USB that fits it if you didn't return with one with it. For the DVD's i suggest looking up software trails to rip DVD's. You can newly put it in the disc slot near one of those programs and it should work.
You need a Firewire cable from your DV cam to your PC and you have need of a Firewire card on your PC

Then you need Adobe Premier pro or Premier Elements so that you can cut the footage.
