Answers:
IEEE 1394 is Firewire. Firewire is more like a faster and more advanced revision of USB 2,0. Firewire is available on PC's and Macs and notebooks. However, to connnect the camera you will have need of to have a firewire port. These are simple to install and inexpensive. Check your computer instruction book for more details.
is it a JVC? if it is, then you cant unless you get a applience Is it a MiniDV camcorder? If so, and maybe even except... it uses DV video.. which is an industry standard... as such it should work on any computer with use of a firewire (IEEE 1394)cable. Obviously you necessitate a firewire port on your computer as well... most newer computers will own one built in. Other afterwards that.. all you stipulation is some capture software. Some might come next to your camcorder and if not, Windows Movie Maker (found surrounded by Windows ME or later I think) will work only just fine.

Honestly, outside of things bought at the Apple store, there's very little that will work on an Apple that will not work on a PC. It's in general the other way around. Most associates make stuff for the PC, especially when it comes to hardware.

If your computer does not have a firewire port, you can buy a PCI firewire card for lower than $30.
