Can you download video from a video camera when you do not own the software for the camera? i bought a vivatar video cam from HSN recently

i bought a vivatar video cam from HSN recently and it did not enjoy the disc with it. And, HSN have none and you won't believe this but Vivitar says they enjoy none either!
I resembling the camera and it was a apposite price. I need to convey it back contained by the next 2 days to bring back full credit or keep it and go and get some credit for no software.
If I can download it in my computer anyway, I will keep hold of it. (my grandkids are coming here in a week).
any back is appreciated.

It records to a removable SD memory card, so you can use a USB memory card reader (like this - http://www.hsn.com/net2-products/sandisk... ) to download photos/videos to your computer...only be sure that you do not record to the camera's internal memory, or you may own problems transferring these photos/videos.

As for basic photo manager/editor, you can download Google's Picasa for free: http://picasa.google.com/
- and Windows Media Player should be capable of play the video files.
