There is none. The 300 dps (do you have it in mind dpi) is a standard amount of dots in an inch. You can enjoy 300dpi in any and adjectives mega pixels. What you are referring to is more about print standard than mega pixels. 300 is considered to be a standard amount for professional grade photo's. In short your camera will clutch pictures at a variety of mega pixels, but use the 300 dpi as a standard for adjectives of them.

There isn't an "equivalent" between dpi and megapixels.
Instead, you enjoy to do some math between the size of your print, the number of pixels horizontally and vertically, and the dpi output of your printer. And even then, the printer driver will do some interpolation as powerfully.
Example: Let's say you want an 8" x 12" print at the printer's original 300 dpi. In fact, that would be an imitation that's (8"x300dpi) by (12"x300dpi) or 2400 x 3600.
When you multiply 2400 x 3600, you get 8,640,000 total dots or 8.64 million dots. Now, this is where on earth many empire tell you that you'd inevitability an 8.64 megapixel camera to get this. However, this is not correct.
The veracity is that pixels and printer dots per inch are not equivalent. Moreover, printer drivers interpolate because rarely does the math come out so other. Many images look a short time ago fine at 150 to 200 pixels per inch (a different measurement than dots per inch, by the way).
Bottom splash: Any camera six megapixels or better will give you prints that are freshly fine, up to any reasonable or popularly printed size.
