Should i return with the fresh Rebel xti replacement instead of the 40D and spend the difference on L lenses?
Answers:
Since the largest investment (and longest lived) is in the compliment of lenses contained by your system, investing in the uppermost quality lenses make more sense ... you will be using them for decades, while as you may have notice, one tends to enjoy to replace the DSLR camera's about every three for four years.
The alien Rebel XSi will provide you with copious opportunities to appropriation high characteristic images until you can afford the $8,000 pro, full frame Canon 1DS Mark III
The 40D seem to spend a lot of time subsequent to the 1Ds Mark III as a backup camera ... that and the 5D Get a used 30D
Not a user of Canon, but the XSi(XTi replacement) lean towards consumers. The 40D is a more advanced camera, technique wise. That magnesium body must be worth more.
Why not purely buy an XTi and invest even more in lenses?
Lenses are always a better investment than cameras.
However, if you've ever held a 40D and an X-level camera surrounded by your hands, they are worlds apart contained by terms of size, ergonomics and professional have a feeling.
To me mounting an L-level lens on an X camera is like bolting a backhoe on a bicycle.
You may disagree. But travel to your local Canon dealer and find out for yourself.
Just my 2 pesos.
