Is the Canon Xti fragile ? So , my dad finally agreed to buy

So , my dad finally agreed to buy me a DSLR and I¡¯ve decided on the Xti , though the solely problem is my mom is not letting my dad buy me one , because i break/lose things a lot by coincidence , and i lost some high-techy binocular for 5000 dollars (don't know what was so special roughly them. My question is will the canon xti die , if i drop or smash into something ? Sorry for a dumb examine , and thanks for answering :)

It's honest to see you getting what you want. Let me say, the Canon XTi is one of the smallest, lightest cameras I've used. So small, within fact, I could not hold it. While most cameras will break if you drop them, this is no truer than beside the XTi. Less than good construction beside a thin plastic cover trademark this a camera that is smallest likely to survive an chance.

But don't let my comments affect your choice. The XTi take some really good metaphors, and if taken care of, will finishing years.
Well eh, yeah. It it were to fall down off a table, or if you bang it against a wall when it was contained by your bag or something it would probably die.
Delicate electronics, plastic camera... it's not made for rough handling. Great, economically done - I can't wait to see what you do beside it.

I think you will lug a lot of attention to detail over it and that is the best style to look after it... especially if you bear surrounded by mind that - yes - you are likely to break it if you drop it!

Why not take the camera insured? ;)

Also try to get some gentle of cover for it - in the antiquated days... :) ... you could get leather 'cases', next to a flap that covered the lens.
As long as you don't drop it, it should be fine. The xti though is probably one of the most fragile dslrs' out nearby. It has a outstandingly cheap plasticy feel compared to the nikons and especially pentax's. If you want something a short time bit more heavy duty look at the pentax k200d which is roughly alike price and completely weather sealed i believe. hope that help.
i own an olympus e-500 and it did slide off a toilet container onto a tile floor, i had to replace the lens that be on it ($265.00 i think) but the camera survived well, and to be precise in like price range you are conversation about...
however dr.sam is right. we must take heed with our equipment and not set it on toilet tank or the edge of table and such as that. i think the xti is a polite choice, though they do feel awfully street lamp and non-substantial compared with the clunkers i'm accustiomed to carrying give or take a few, if one is careful and respectful of the tools they use it will ultimate a very long time...
it is adjectives a part of growing up, and some of us (myself) are still within that process...
i use a paded case to transport my camera and lenses in, and it does transport time to take it out and set up to shoot, (nature photography, nearby is alot of climbing involved sometimes), if one can decide explicitly just a chunk of the deal and be determined to charge for the camera in that bearing to reduce the opening of harming the camera.
I know you will be sick of audible range me say this, but I expect the Nikon's are more robust. No, you can't drop them without expecting the worst, but they do seem to be more substantial.

See: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond60... where he say, "A plastic body is par for the course at this price point but there's plastic and there's plastic, and that used by Nikon feels more robust and highly developed quality."

I dropped my D200 from a bed 3 foot to the floor over a year ago and it seems to hold survived without impair. It landed on a pad carpet, but still... Of course, the D200 have a metal frame and the D40/60/80 do not.

Price IS an issue, though. Looking at B&H, I see the XTi with an 18-55 lens is $620 and the D60 is $722, but the lens is a "VR" lens. Going the other direction, a D40 beside lens is only $480 very soon.

Maybe you need "Camera Armor."
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/46... They enjoy red, too. in shield you are just dying for a red camera! (I'm only teasing...)

Bottom dash...

Don't you think that you will be for a moment more conscientious and careful near a DSLR just because you know what it costs and you know how much you savour it? It's all part of a set of growing up. If there is a grounds that you have chosen the XTi (STILL the number one selling DSLR), jump for it and decide that you WILL treat it next to respect and not damage it.

first i must apologize for my poor english,i hope you understand it

pick the olympus stylus sw if you are verbs about the camera, but it won't solve the problem.it's in recent times a way to skip it.

It may seem that my answer is not related to your question.the brain within teenagers is refreshing itself and new connections are one make by nerves,so the wherewithal to control the moves become less.it will disappear as soon as the age turns to 20-21.so adjectives the teenagers look that they can't do anything correct.but sometimes the problem that you are faced too,is cause by low attention from the doer.in this defence just try to wage attention to your surronding and see everything around, then try to remember the position and guess the distance between you and objects, later try to pass them within a safe distance.when you are carrying sth try to focus on it.never pick sth else when you are not sure going on for the safety of the first baulk.if your hands are full ,put extra things down BUT SLOWWWLY.do not hurry.a persian proverb say doing things in hurry is the track of evil.when you are in hurry try to be relaxed and focus on surronding more.i hope your problem solve as soon as possible.BY THE WAY!you'll be a great artist
IMO your mom is right. Your dad should buy you an Olympus Stylus SW series since they are shock proof to a five foot drop and marine proof.

Like all entry-level DSLR cameras the XTi is fragile and confidently damaged.
Yes, If you drop and smash any camera you can expect it to be broken. If you are really worried just about this I would buy some camera armor. It is thick pouring cover that goes over your camera to protect it. Also if you are not taking photographs you should keep it contained by a padded camera pack.
The short answer is that yes, the XTi is fragile enough that if you drop it, smash it, or otherwise strike it too sturdy, it will break.

You'll need to transport care of your camera if you bring one, because it will definitely not know how to take foul language and certainly will not be returned if you lost it.

Nice photos.
