Ok, i have a canon powershot S5IS, I really want to purloin a night shot where on earth the shutter would stay open, it's not of folks, its more of a landscape type of pic, any suggestions on how to rob it

how long going away the shutter open really depends on how you want your shot to be exposed. you only need to seizure enoug light to carry the details without destroying it near over exposure. also, get a tripod. it's more adjectives than just taking pitures at hours of darkness.
Use a tripod!! Use a tripod. Set the camera to the lowest ISO setting to minimize noise. Use the self timer to minimize tremor. Set the camera to the night shot mode. Don't use flash, unless you enjoy a subject in the foreground.
