check out www.go-ferthis.com they carry profoundly of cell phones that are unlocked and below retail prices.
You can also try overstock.com and amazon "Unlocked" process that particular phone is not restricted for use near any ONE company. It is compatible for ANY company. Usually these phones are more expensive because as I said you can use them through any service. It's kind of close to having a region-free dvd player that plays dvd's from any country. I'm not sure if the Blackberry Pearl 8100 is available through AT&T. If not, you own no choice but to get an unlocked one if you want to stay beside AT&T. If they do carry it, later try to just buy a "normal" one that's already compatible near AT&T services. Usually if you renew your contract or start new services, you can grasp new phones for free or significantly discounted. If you want to get one on Ebay, try questioning for Blackberry Pearl 8100, AT&T so you get one that's not unlocked and that`s why cheaper. If you have no luck, try looking for a different Blackberry style. I hope this help.
