Yes if you do not have a record messaging plan and you send im's for aim through your phone you will be charged. Also I am pretty sure you'll be charged for the messages that you recieve from other citizens through your phone
no you enjoy to pay, even AIM IM'ing via AOL, MSN & Yahoo on your cell phone utilizes your course book messages. So for every IM you send or receive your cell phone company will charge you the texting rate (.10, .25, etc., depending on your cell phone company.
Your best bet is to hold some sort of texting plan. If you plan on using IM a lot near your friends & family unlimited my be the mode to go.
Good luck!

you will more than possible have to rate for the data usage you are using.. Meaning the amount of information to be exact being downloaded on your phone via the mobile internet.. Plus you could possibly be charged for the text too.. Be careful.. it can grasp costly if you don't have a text/media plan.
