You can unlock it, however solitary the voice and text will work on it. The process the phoen is designed, the internet will not work on any other network. You can do this remotely by simply entering a code into the phone, goto http://www.globalunlock.com/sidekick.htm It doesnt really make sense to do so b/c you cant carry the network controlled features approaching IM and internet.
If she wants to use it merely for the phone, she would have to progress somewhere and get it unlocked.
