Our cell phones are almost three years old. They appear to need more frequent freestyle charges. Is this normal? Most of the nation I know haven't had a cell phone for that long. Any suggestions for how to hold on to it charged for longer?

Yes. It is likely that your freestyle is going bad, it happen, espically to older phones. If you want to maintain your phone you could get a unknown battery, they put up for sale them at places like battery's plus or you could take it from your service providers store.
