I have a ps3 and will be indeterminate on this one. I just want to see what everybody else think and give my view later.
Answers:
I own a Wii (not a PS3 or XBox) and am a late-20s female gamer. My review may be for a moment different, heh, but I both agree and disagree with the GameFAQ reviewer.
Hardware: The graphics are a disappointment when compared to PS3 and XBox, but they're comparable to adjectives the past gaming systems. Thus, have never had a PS3 or XBox, I don't play the Wii and reason "These graphics suck". The graphics look better than the PS2 and Gamecube. I think the reviewer is biased surrounded by that respect, but I understand his reasoning since HDTV is such a huge hit.
Games: This is probably the strongest point where on earth I disagree. I'm not a big fan of RPG games, so I no problem didn't seek out Super Mario Galaxy or Twilight Princess when I get my Wii. No, I picked up games that utilized the motion sensor bar, close to Carnival Games and Rayman 2. Are these the best games ever? No. But they are the most fun games we own. They are easy to pick up and play, and they're newly all around fun. Rayman is very funny, and even if we're playing the same mini activity as last session, it's still really funny.
Price: Regardless of what PS3 and XBox hold to offer, I simply can't afford to drop $600 on a console. Sorry. Especially when the XBox is prone to overheating and crapping out, and the PS3 isn't 100% backwards compatible. I don't thought if it offers Blu-Ray; I don't grain the need to buy those when I can still procure DVDs for really cheap. But I guess this comes back to "do you good point HD over everything else".
Control: I love that I can have anybody over to play Wii, and it doesn't require a long explanation of "press X to leap, O to swim, square to fly but it opens doors if you're not within the air, L1 and L2 are arms but don't press L1 unless you have the uzi...". It's only so confusing. My boyfriend plays rugby and was really excited to play a rugby team game on the PS2, but he put it down after about 20 minutes because he in recent times couldn't grasp all of the controls. Stick him within front of the Wii with Excite Truck, and he'll play for h-o-u-r-s. The reality that everyone, from the elderly to the wee tykes, can play Wii speaks volumes for the ease of control. Plus you procure more exercise than you do pressing buttons on the PS3 controller, regardless of what the reviewer thinks.
Appearance: I don't really own any opinion on what it looks close to. I guess it fits nicely on my TV stand beside my DVD player, satellite receiver, VCR, and PS2, so that's perfect...
I understand some of the points that the reviewer made, but overall I reason that unless you're a hardcore "OMG I must have the bestest graphics EVA!", you'd be much happier near a Wii than you would buying something that's high priced and, really, isn't that different than its parent consoles. PS3 have the same controllers as PS2, XBox 360 have the same as the XBox ... adjectives you did was obtain better graphics. Nintendo kept the same graphics but produced some mighty fun games that you won't find on any other console. I'd to some extent have a fun team game with high-ranking replay value than a pretty picture on my TV.
Totally agree near the review. The Wii is for non-gamers (if that makes sense) and kids.
I'm not a gamer at adjectives. My favorite game is probably the unproved Mario Bros but I do LOVE playing my Wii and would only attain the PS3 for Blu-Ray purposes.
I agree.
Already done to death.
You any like the wiimote or you don't.
That review be that one person's opinion.
"it is NOT innovative,"
Mmm, okay, but ultimate time I checked a lot of other nation thought IT WAS INNOVATIVE.
"with few games near any real substance."
Some culture like the games on the Wii, my GF LOVES Zack and Wiki...
"It annoys me when society whine about the PS3 mortal overpriced when the production costs for it are higher than the Dutch auction price,"
WTF is this?! Are we all suppose to hold pockets as deep as SONY!?! Just because Sony spent $800 on it and is selling it to us at $700 does that stingy we HAVE TO BUY IT AND LOVE IT!?!
"At the end of the daytime, flicking a remote is no different from moving an analogue stick."
Last time I checked, wiimotes had a chuck near an analog stick on it too...
"but it doesn't have any TRUE substance."
"it can be so much FUN!"
Take your meds please.
"and having a adjectives is so very essential to a games console"
Please give this individual a medal.
"So, if you're short on change but desperate to jump into the bright generation, the Wii isn't a desperate choice. If you're loaded and want multiple consoles, a Wii is a definite purchase, but if you can afford a PS3 and just intend to get one console this gen, I strongly recommend NOT to buy one."
What happen to the 360? The review mentions PS3 five times but 360 only once?! What's up near that?
Wow, that review really kinda sucked, a lot, near-incoherent even, almost similar to reading a train-wreck.
I think it is legally accurate.
It might just be me, but I fall through to see the difference between a gamecube and a wii in graphics.
The unusual innovative controllers are the only definite plus, but since I don't like any other movement consequently button mashing or getting stale my sofa to get snacks, I'd prefer a different console.
It does indeed volunteer some lousy games, some are very angelic mind you. They just obligation a bigger selection that appeals to other ethnic group beside the kiddy and 'family' crowds.
riiight...Wrong
I remain nonpartisan on this one as well. I am a Gamer (Not hardcore who purely sits in front of the TV similar to i have no damn life). but i am a gamer. I own the wii console and yeah the graphics aren't that great and the 1st games that come out for the wii were newly terrible. but look at wii immediately. Super smash bros brawl, mario kart wii coming out soon, medal of honor hero 2. These game titles and some previous ones similar to super paper mario be doing really good. its a virtuous console and i wouldn't say that it isn't for gamers. It is for gamers who want to play video games within a way that they haven't thought believable until nintendo brought this console into production! Anyone can post a review on those activity sites and that reviewer is clearly biased, saying the graphics are no better than the gamecube I'd resembling to know the GC games with the graphics of Mario Galaxy and Metrod Prime 3, it also read aloud its not innovative what other console allows you to interact to the same scope as the wii, just look at wii sports and how you play those games compared to the other consoles, to me thats innovation.
And as for the review of the games who care who the main personality is as long as the games fun, would replacing the Mario Galaxy or Brawl characters with adjectives new behaviour designs have made them better games no unsurprisingly not, also there are in a minute some decent third entertainment titles on the wii like Zack & Wiki, Res Evil 4 & UC and Rayman 1 &2 etc, not to mention the virtual console which have the best collection of classic games of any console, with tons of third knees-up titles.
As for the games being kiddie as any wii owner will enlighten you that is insensible wrong, Res Evil, Man Hunt 2 and Bully are not targeted at kids, there is plenty of games for adjectives ages on the wii from brain training titles to wiifit to Zelda to its party games, the wii appeals to a impressively wide audience to read aloud its aimed solely to kids is just plain untrue though explicitly a market Nintendo covers too.
