As far as I know, the PS3 doesn't have a build surrounded by mic, lol. Im pretty sure you have to buy the headset if you want to squeak at other people online. nope... you need a bluetooth or the ps3 camera that have a mic built in. You also might be capable of use any usb-microphone
Silly fanboy answer promoting Xbox. I could simply diss the 360 by saying: "At least possible the PS3 doesn't die when I'm playing games," and make some more comments almost failure rate, but I'll hold back from that.

The PS3 allows you to buy any Bluetooth or USB headset. If you have a bluetooth headset for your cell phone already, it will work. You can also use the PS Eye as a microphone for in-game, but it's not as sensitive as microphone placed on your human being. You can get bluetooth headset as low as $7.99 + 5 s/h online, particularly on www.woot.com and sellout.woot.com . That site offer 1 item per day until they put on the market out, or it changes at 12:01am CST.
The system is really geared to have the end-user customize it. Hence you can buy any HDMI cable you want to go beside your electronics, any headset, put any size harddrive in it, etc.
