We actually enjoy both.
My husband likes the PS3 for the more symbolic intense games. It has a bigger processor and the games are more detailed. It also have the BluRay player so we can watch HiDef movies on our HDTV. We also approaching the feature that allows you to browse the internet on the TV because we can view YouTube video and some other formats on our big TV instead of on the teeny computer. It can also connect wirelessly to your PC so you can listen to your MP3s through your television or stereo system that you hold hooked up to the TV. It's really become the center of our entertainment system.
We just get a Wii for Christmas because it's fun! The games are interactive and intuitive so anyone can play, but challenging plenty that more experienced gamers aren't bored. My 65-year-old dad who has trifocal specs and is hard of audible range was playing baseball beside my husband, and they both were have a great time.

It really depends on what style of games you like. :)
Nintendo have traditionally used softer, more colorful graphics in games resembling Mario, Katamari, or Wii Sports for games that appeal to a broader range of imperturbable players, while Sony seems to focus on games beside more of an edge toward serious gamers near games like Final Fantasy or Grand Theft Auto.
Another item to consider is the online features. I'm not sure about PS3's features, but I know Wii allows you to download adjectives sorts of old NES/SNES/N64 games... for a charge, of course. PS3 might hold something similar, you should research.
In the end, though... deeply of the big hits like Guitar Hero are out for adjectives three systems (What I like to call upon the XStation Wii60), so what you really need to look at are the system-specific legacies--Final Fantasy vs. Zelda, for example--and the fringe benefits.

if your the material gamer out there that blows head of.. the ps3 is FOR you...
if you like interactive games and puzzles and famliy fun .. even basically alone ... the wii is FOR you...
The expencive one tho is the playstation 3 ... you can get the $399 one but it comes near only "core" features ...
if your a first time gamer or freshly want to plug and play.. the Wii is for you. wii- makes you seize up off your butt and really work! the graphics may not be as advanced, but it's so interactive and fun!!
