About a year ago I read somewhere that 360 games were similar to DVDs and that, to prevent importing games until that time they are released here, games purchased outside the US would not work on US boxes and vise vera. I am flying to New Zealand for a few weeks and am considering purchasing Battle Field: Bad Company while there. However, I don't want to do that if it won't work on my Xbox 360.

Sorry but no. My friend have a korean 360 and brought it to the U.S and bought top spin 2. It was not compatible because it be from a different country. Even if you have a hardrive you cannot do it.
yeah if it has the xbox 360 entry on the top... that means it is compatible next to the 360 no matter what
nope it will right to be heard wrong region i know because it happend to me when i ordered yuvraj singh international cricket 2007 from india to usa it said wrong region i was so pissed rotten! your friend can play top spin 2 if he buys a modchip they are illegal i be going to put a modchip into my xbox but i was warn if it damaged your xbox 360 microsoft would'nt cover or fix it even if u hold a warranty and you can be put in intern if caught i didnt take the risk if u want to embezzle a risk go to modchip.com and u enjoy to put it in by yourself don't do it if u contemplate you'll **** up your system hope my answer helps no xbox360 titles are same as any system titles.
