Are european PS3's like peas in a pod region as Australian PS3's? I want to buy a console for a
I want to buy a console for a friend from europe (Bulgaria to be exact). Does it have the chum 4 region which is the same as aussie ps3's, explanation that if I buy an 80gig ps3 can I play ps2 games from australia? (I know that all ps3 games are region free). Plus roughly how much will It cost?
Answers:
Yes, it have the same region. No theory on the cost. All ps2 PAL games are compatible near all other ps2 PAL regions. I imagine UK/Hong Kong, Australia and Continental Europe occupy PAL regions 2, 3 and 4. I'm not sure in what command, but it doesn't matter, they're adjectives intercompatible.
One possible complication is that Russia has its own region, something approaching region 9, and is NTSC if I remember right. I'm not sure if Bulgaria went NTSC next to Russia or PAL with Europe. But I do know that adjectives European ps3's are PAL-compatible and can play ps2 games from Australia.
Ps2 games from Bulgaria might be another matter, if Bulgaria get included in Russia's NTSC region. But there's no ps3 next to backward compatibility for that region anyway; different ps2 NTSC regions are NOT intercompatible, unlike the PAL regions.
I hope that made sense. Basically, the answer is yes, a European ps3 can play Australian ps2 games.
