Which linux is best for PS3? I'm pretty electronically retarded, but im trying to figure

I'm pretty electronically retarded, but im trying to figure out which linux i should use for my ps3 but I don't know adequate to know what the differences are.
I don't have an HDTV if that make a difference. And I don't know whether or not it helps but the biggest things self be using it for would be text documents and the internet, and if the file documents were translatable into microsoft word that would be devout (i dont know if any of them are, or none of them, or whatever)
Answers:
You should use Yellow dog linux because it's designed for the PS3 !

I dont know much about linux any to be frankly honest, but check you tube and search for it on nearby.

As for AIM go to mobile.ebuddy.com for MSN Messenger

Since you don't have an HDTV, I'd avoid YDL. You can install YDL on PS3 even in need an HDTV, but honestly, even if you don't take the HDTV issue into consideration, YDL is a bit bloated. I'd recommend Ubuntu:
http://psubuntu.com/ Either Ubuntu or Yellow Dog Linux are the best. Both have functions that allow use on the PS3. Either one will be fine for your purposes.

Ubuntu is supposed to be easier to use, though I haven't used YDL ever so I couldn't read aloud for sure.

AIM would be Pidgin or similar (Pidgin is an all-in-one client).
There's a text editor, but if you want to be more fancy, there's Open Office (www.openoffice.org) though Ubuntu have that pre-installed. It's compatible with MS Office files and can save/open them.

Make sure you enjoy a USB mouse and keyboard for the Linux installation because the controller won't work. Also put a bet on up your game save, because the PS3 will erase the harddrive.

In all honesty, PS3 Linux is of poorer quality normal Linux, because nought is really programmed exclusively for the PS3. It's able to run on the PS3 hardware, but if you run it on a PC (like the imaginative intention) it will run better. (Not that it runs poorly, just it could be better). So installing PS3 Linux is primarily for additional computer functionality to an already complex tool. There's no hardware acceleration because the RSX (the PS3 graphics chip) is locked, so don't expect to play any recent games through emulation.
