You know the one device that works with any usb port on your comp to product free phone calls? What is the tangible catch on it? Anyone know?

I read some reviews and it's a outstandingly interesting idea. Years ago, plentiful companies built their own fiber optic communication networks that were designed to simply carry a single optical nouns. Technology was developed to allow multiple optical transmissions on a single fiber, so oodles networks were essentially solitary, since they were no longer needed, but they were still physically surrounded by place. The folks at MagicJack say that they've put together ample of these "dark" fiber optic networks (they bought (and/or leased?) them at a greatly cheap price, since they weren't being used) to build their own introduce yourself -- so they don't have to use the phone company's networks and switches. Since it's a private web that bypasses everyone else's long-distance phone and internet networks, they can charge what they want -- and it's really cheap.
Probably the main block is whether or not they can get satisfactory users to stay alive financially. If they can't get satisfactory users to pay for the annual growth, repairs, and electricity, they'll disappear. But at $20 per year (it isn't exactly free, but it's a lot cheaper than anyone else), there's a suitable chance they can brand name it if they can get the word out.
I'm sure the phone lobbyists are hitting the elected official, trying to find a way to take rid of the competition, so that could be a factor, too. But I'd hate to be the one who voted to nick away the $20 per year phone from the 75-year old grandma on Social Security who a short time ago wants to communicate to her grandkids cheap -- that's a recipe for an election battle disaster that no amount of slush money could reverse. PROS:
1) $20 PER YEAR calling VoIP style
2) Take it anywhere (in the world) to use next to a computer that has a USB port and can be connected to a BROADBAND nouns hard cable
3) Plug and play - does not install anything on your computer but meerly places a shortcut to the softphone on your desktop
4) Clear sound beside super quality
5) Buy a MagicJack for yourself and your domestic across on the other side of the US or overseas and make free call to them
6) Call forwarding to a number of your choice is obedient - I use my cell phone.
7) A drawback to having your computer on at adjectives times to use this device might be someone elses strong point because if you don't want any calls, let's enunciate at night, you simply turn past its sell-by date your computer and your phone will not ring.
CONS:
1) WILL NOT install on an administrator profile, it MUST BE a "limited" user profile - I found that out myself
I had the MagicJack for 5 days and couldn't seize to work and i had 14 tech support conversations. After the 14th one, I go to the other computer (which was logged surrounded by under our son's account) I plugged the MagicJack contained by and POOF it worked! So from there I figure out that in establish to use the MagicJack you have to enjoy a "LIMITED" user account on a computer. I be trying to install this item on "ADMINISTRATOR" user accounts. To prove that I wasn't crazy I created a NEW account and call it "MagicJackUser" and made it a "LIMITED" account and in the past you know it, it WOKED!
2) Poor tech support (chat based only) I'm sure it's chat base to keep costs low. They try to do their best though.
3) Very fixed phone number selection - Not general like other services - mine is coupled next to my Grandcentral.com number for local calls
4) Computer must be on to label calls - primarily you are eliminating the inevitability for one of those "modems/routers" that a company like Vonage provides near their service.
5) Mac issues and also no computer no calls
Remember this product is still contained by BETA too...
VOIP is a new technology and as such have it¡¯s share of bugs. Magicjack is still in beta as in good health, and also has it¡¯s share of bugs. However for the price of $40 + shipping you aren¡¯t taking a huge risk. I¡¯m sure the part will pay for itself next to a few months of usage. This unit will probably be popular beside regular long distance callers, as resourcefully as transient people such as ex-patriates and students. It also have a niche market contained by people who are looking for an in-expensive second column. I can¡¯t see it replacing a traditional phone service yet, but that may regulation in the adjectives. Overall it¡¯s worth looking into.
