I don't think it's possible - I didn't compensate THAT much attention in Chem when I be at school, but non-rechargeable "dry cell" battery are filled next to substances that react to produce a charge - so once the freestyle has lost its power, there's no route to re-charge it because the chemicals have react together to form a new compound that can't be reduced into its productive components by recharging.

The important carbon-zinc AA cells are not rechargeable. Period. It's a one-way street and no process to change that.
