Can you please abet me troubleshoot the humming within my audio speakers? We just bought a home theater system w/new tv,
We just bought a home theater system w/new tv, addressee and speakers. I've noticed that are speakers are humming. I've tried trouble shooting the problem by unplugging electrical power to faultless devices and plugging them to different outlets. Before I tried troubleshooting the problem, all the electrical cable are connected to a Monster Power surge protector outlet. This is what I've came up near so far:
1) The humming stops when I unplug the tv & desktop from the surge protector. I tried plugging the tv and desktop to a different outlet on an extensior cord throughout the house. No matter where on earth I plugged it in, the humming returns.
2) I tried to isolate the humming near an electrical problem by unplugging the tv & desktop, & than turn on all the appliances within the house. No humming was detected.
3) The humming stops when the heir is on mute while the tv & desktop is plugged in.
Is the humming individual caused by an electrical problem or one of our appliances?
Answers:
sounds like something interfering near your speakers...more than likely one of your appliances. The hum is cause by electrical interference in your speaker cable. This is usually cause by power cables self close to speaker cable. A good style to stop this is to run your speaker cable as far away from the electrical as possible. If that does not help try feed your speaker cable through a piece of conduit. This will shield it from the electrical cables and hopefully wipe out your hum.
