Blu-Ray, The End of DVDs, or merely HD Dvds? I recently read an article stating that HD-DVDs would

I recently read an article stating that HD-DVDs would no longer be manufactured... does this scrounging that regular DVDs as well will be out-dated? I'm a major movie admirer, and have a enormously large DVD collection, will these immediately be old communication?
I don't really care give or take a few HD vs. Blue Ray, because I don't have any of them, but am simply wondering if this is the end of DVD industrial.
Thanks

They are going to quit making HD DVD because Blue Ray beat them out. Now however, regular DVD's will eventually phase out too. As far as I know the blue shaft of light players will be able or currently are competent to play regular DVD's it is just not compatible the other track around (in other words you won't be able to play Blue shaft of light on your current DVD player, but you will be able to play adjectives the DVD's you currently own on a blue ray). Only difference, One will be high def, the other will not
ok HD DVD be stopped as of Feb 18, if you get a blu rey player it will play standard DVD' it have backward capapblitites which channel it play either blu rey or standard DVD's but a standrard DVD player will NOT play blu rey
my guess is standard DVD's will be around another 5 years or so by consequently blu rey players will be as afortable as standard ones are now
Yes, they will be phased out eventually, but it will be a loooong time. Right presently Blu Ray is an alternative to DVD for high train HD people and NOT a replacement.

Until everyone have 1080p HDTV's and a Blu Ray player DVD's will continue to be manufactured for at LEAST 5 years but probably more.

weeder no DVD's will be around for years and years(they still sell more dvds contained by a week ,then blu-ray does surrounded by a year) , but blu-ray is the future ,

and HD DVD is contained by the bin
Nope, other, now that Blu Ray have become the format winner, Sony will enjoy to drastically increase sales of Blu Ray discs to convince their backer that Blu Ray will make them more money than standard dvd.
To put it into perspective the standard dvd release of Borat sold 2 million copies within its first week or release, this has outsold adjectives of the Blu ray and HD DVD titles combined within over 2 years!
The Standard DVD release of Happy Feet sold 4 million in its first week, the Blu Ray release of Casino Royale (one of Blu Rays adjectives time best selling discs) took over 3 months to even get 1.5% of the amount that standard Happy Feet sold within just a week.
There is a long, long, long process to go formerly Blu Ray even comes close to competing with Standard dvd.
The Studios want to brand money, so it will only be if and when Blu Ray outsells standard dvd that they will even consider phasing out standard dvd, and even if Blu sunbeam does ever match current standard dvd sale then the cost of Blu shaft of light production is going to mean smaller amount profit for the studios, so in this respects its notably unlikely that standard DVD will be phased out anytime soon.
DVD is bygone when compared to Blu-Ray. Eventually, DVDs will no longer be produced. The good item is that this isn't the same as going from VHS to DVD. Many Blu-Ray players will play standard DVD movies.
