What else can i use besides solder? I am trying to fix one of my dewalt

I am trying to fix one of my dewalt 18 volt rechargable batteries. When i break them apart there is independent cell in side that are adjectives connected in series near a piece of metal. Now i pulled that metal of and am trying to solder it back on but can not. It wasn't soldered on previously. Does anyone know another way to acheive a conection similar to this?
Answers:

It can be soldered.Use sandpaper to clean the mobile and use soldering paste next heat up the soldering gun and apply the soldering gun and the solder at one and the same time!! They don't solder the cells because soldering cause the cell to heat up and the electrolyte contained by the cell boils away making the cell useless. What they do is tack weld.
