Does keeping battery within refridgerator preserve them?

no, you may in actuality damage them because here will be condensation on the batteries which can deface them. moisture and batteries, not a obedient combination. Just keep them at room temp
I've never hear of doing that. What a crazy idea! Yes. Becuase it slows down the chemical reaction that batterys use to supply electricity but if your not going to use the batterys for a long time or don't have need of them straight away why buy them?
