Setting up monitors for audio video recording on a laptop? hi i'm currently trying to set up some monitors

hi i'm currently trying to set up some monitors for my laptop. i'll be using pro tools to record and mix. i' getting a firewire audio interface for demo in the subsequent few days, but just wondered what features of monitors i'd need to receive a decent nouns for mixing and editing. theres only a standard (i conjecture its 1.5mm) jack for audio output on my pc at the minute. if i seize a decent set of two of recording monitors, will they involve to be xlr from my laptop? or will the output (post recording) run out of my firewire audio interface with an xlr?

any clues?
Answers:  Depending on which firewire device you own, you should have available sends located on the device for monitors. On smaller devices where on earth real estate and portability are knob, these will probably be balanced 1/4" outputs (labeled CR, Control Room, or Monitor). be lasting to use good-quality, balanced cable when interconnecting.

As far as monitors are concerned, it becomes more of an issue of what you're trying to do. Cheapy M-Audio or Edirol monitors aren't worth the money-you would be better off using your home stereo or a fitting set of headphones. You won't find monitors that are truly accurate contained by deep, open bass (acoustic hiphop, 5-6 string basses, etc) for under $700. However, I am completely jolly with my Event ALP 5's. They hold a very true response and my mixes hold improved dramatically since their purchase. I picked them up from Sweetwater for around $329 with isolation floats for decoupling. Many reviews enjoy said their performance far exceeds anything surrounded by their pricepoint. In my experience, I would have to agree.

Also, keep hold of in mind: the purpose of quotation monitors is not to make your music nouns good. It's to formulate it sound indisputable. You shouldn't buy a set of monitors thinking it's gonna be like buying a Bose (junk anyway!), it's more approaching buying a new set of ears.

I hope it help.
