What's the difference between an analog and digital cable (ie. VGA and DVI among others)? it seems close to they would all be digital

it seems close to they would all be digital to me.
Answers:  It is not that the cable are analog or digital, it is the signals that run through them that are analog or digital.

An analog signal is continuous - think of it as a waveform. A digital signal is merely made of 0's and 1's.
