Is at hand a device that can swing the amount of current going through a rope, approaching a marine faucet? There are "adjustable" power supplies (like Pyramids & Astrons)

There are "adjustable" power supplies (like Pyramids & Astrons) with dials for voltage or amperage or both, but I'm already getting a fixed output power supply and would approaching to add something, to control the amount of current, within the circuit. Is there such a entity? Thanks in finance.
Answers:  For small amounts of current you can use a potentiometer (variable resistor). If you are dealing with more power you can use an adjustable autotransformer.
