Because watches can be worn while diving. And cameras can clutch pictures while underwater. But they cost more for the privilege.
Nobody expects you to try talking on a cellphone underwater. Glub glub. Nobody would infer you anyway. And nobody expects you to just lounge around underwater listen to an iPod. I mean, they CAN build them waterproof but nobody would be liable to pay the extra money since they wouldn't use it for those purposes.
As for making them foolproof, never begin. The fools are too creative.
things are supposed to brake surrounded by a short time today so that you have to progress back and buy a unsullied one. making waterproof electronics is sorta against the point.
