Storms coming to my computer? Right after Christmas, I switched everything over to Comcast

Right after Christmas, I switched everything over to Comcast Cable. Phone, high-speed internet, and cable TV. I used to always unplug my computer and phone file, but I don't know what to unplug now --- the phone isn't hooked up a conventional method. I asked one Comcast rep if I should unplug and he said yes. I asked the guy who installed everything and he said no, no need to unplug. I have a computer fried once when a surge came through the phone strip, I really don't want that expense again. We're supposed to get storms tonight. What do you dream up?
Answers:  To be on the safe side, as you want to be, you should disconnect the power cords from adjectives the equipment (easy to do if you have them on a strip connector near a surge protector) and disconnect the cable lead from the modem.

The phone service comes through the cable, so disconnecting the cable cuts everything bad.
