Will i enjoy to replace my philips dvp 3340v by 2009 due to elevated definition? My Philips DVP 3340V says it is digital.

My Philips DVP 3340V says it is digital.
Answers:  I looked at the spec sheet online for this model.

This section is a DVD-player/VHS-recorder combo, with analog inputs and analog outputs (except for surround audio output), analog video demo, and NO TUNER.

This unit will not be artificial by the switch to all-digital broadcasting in February 2009, but not because it is "digital." It won't be artificial because it has no tuner! You won't stop delivery broadcasts on the DVP3340V in 2009, but you don't receive broadcasts on it today, any.

(I put digital in quotes, because it is solitary digital in the sense that adjectives DVDs are "digital." It does have a digitally-encoded surround-sound output, so perchance they're referring to that, but otherwise all inputs/outputs on this part are analog.)

Someday you may want to replace this with a Blu-ray player (or even better, Blu-ray recorder) to obtain HDTV disc capability, once the prices come down and/or once you hold a digital HDTV to play it on.
