Ok so I keep audible range about adjectives of this blu ray and hd dvd stuff. I don't own a hd or blu ray player nor do i own a hdtv. basically i'm a poor college student. anyway my grill now that they dropped the hd dvd does that connote all dvd's are gone or only just the hd ones. i don't buy a lot of movies...i primarily buy the tv box sets and saw that the blu ray ones are similar to 70-100 bucks which is ridiculous in my assessment since i never buy them unless they are on sale for 20 or smaller amount. basically i'd really hatred it if they only come out on blu ray immediately.

Your fine buying standard DVD's for a few more years. Blue-Ray has won the HD period of war but standard DVD is not going away any time soon. Yes eventually Blue-Ray will replace DVD but your fine for years to come. Also Blue-Ray disc are selling all light of day long from $15-$29
Buy all the standard DVD's you want and when you achieve a Blue-Ray player in the adjectives it will play the standard DVD's as well a the Blue-Ray disc.
DVD-Video is still the predominant format for movies on video.
That may change. All to be precise changing for immediately is that Blue Ray won out over HD-DVD for the High Definition video disc format. Up until recently in that were two version of High Definition DVDs, one being Blu-Ray the other one HD-DVD. Only HD-DVDs are being discontinued so to speak, they are still and will verbs to manufacturer standard DVDs, at lowest for now.
Blu-Ray is a form of High Definition movies within DVD format. Standard definition DVDs will still be sold.
