What's the difference between blue sunbeam & HD disks technically?

Answers:
Blue-ray has more storage size.

But HD-DVD has a much better compression format, so here is not really any difference in the amount of video/movies that fit onto a disc.

If you are simply using it to store raw information though, the Blu-ray can do more.

HD-DVD is more robust.... it can stand up to a scratch much better than Blu-ray

apart from that, at hand is not too much difference

HD-DVD is much cheaper.

If you are thinking of buying one player.... probably go beside Blu-ray, as sony are buying out the movies studios with heaps of cash, to fashion sure Blu-ray wins the format time of war.

actualy, dont buy a player, buy a PS3, its the best value for a BR player currently around.

Side Note. when BR become the norm... and HD-DVD starts to fade away... you will probably be capable of pick up super cheap HD-DVD players and movies.... something to look out for.
Storage. The HD-DVD have a cap at around 9GB, Blu-Ray at 25GB.
Also, Blu-Ray is still in production, where on earth HD-DVD just lost Toshiba's finance, so it's now pretty much a unresponsive format. Hi Dippy,

HD DVD (Toshiba) vs Blu Ray (Sony).

The battle is over and Sony have won. Toshiba has announced they will discontinue production of HD DVD players.

The differences are (were) ¨C

Both use interactive menus but differences are ¨C Blu-Ray size is 50Gb and HD-DVD is 30Gb. HD-DVD is region free while Blu-Ray is divided into three regions. (Figures Sony will try to stick it to the consumer) A disadvantage to HD-DVD is they are not all thorny coated as are the Blu-Ray. HD-DVDs scratch as slickly as regular DVDs while the Blu-Ray are more scratch resistant.
