Answers: Well for one... they're likely to own different region coding... for instance the US/North America is region "1" and the UK/Europe is region 2. Region 1 DVDs won't play on a Region 2 DVD player and vice versa. They did this on DVD technology in establish to better control the distribution of the DVD movies... such as to avoid unwanted importing/exporting.. especially if DVD's release date is different in absolute countries.

Also, nearly all box and other TV oriental video signals are different formats in the UK and North America. The UK uses a signal format prearranged as PAL, which amongst other things is 25 frames of video per second. North America uses NTSC which uses 29.97. NTSC is compatible with PAL equiptment/TVs and vice versa. So even if a DVD doesn't own a region code... PAL DVD won't work on a NTSC DVD player or TV.

Essentially Europe and North America/Japan have other had different small screen standards/specs... which actually moderately stem from the difference in the power (electrical) respectively area uses. Aside from that... sometimes if alike movie is released in the UK and North America... it could be branded next to different ratings, different cover art, and other minute changes. For instance contained by the UK they're probably less plausible to care in the region of the rating the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) gave a movie. Run times could theorical differ if the dramatic release of a movie differed at all contained by either respective country/continent. Also, I can't say-so for sure.. but I wouldn't be suprised if some DVD releases in the UK come next to more language tracks afterwards the US (subtitles or dubs) to accomidate more of Europe.

But I'd say for the most cog the DVDs are fairly similar except exactly similar other then the reality they're not compatible with most of the equipment used to judgment the other.
