Consumer Electronics FAQ
Why don't telephone enjoy cameras close to webcams do?
and do you think they would ever trade name it to where we can touch whoever we're discussion to...like some type of strong radio billowAnswers:
The first time I ever saw a camera phone, or videophone, was at Expo '67 within Montreal. I expect that you will see them soon given the fact that in attendance is probably enough bandwidth to accomodate it. Give it 5 years.
As of Q2 2007, in attendance are over 131 million UMTS
(Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) users (and hence potential videophone users), on 134 networks in 59 countries.
In 2004 Telmex, the biggest headset service provider in Mexico, introduced Videophone service over regular phone lines. The service, as of March 2006, have not enjoyed prevalent adoption. Telmex is owned by Carlos Slim HelĂș,
AKA Carlos Slim, the 3rd wealthiest man in the world.
