2 main things going on for refurbs.

First, check the warranty. Most of the time, it's way smaller quantity than for the original product. And repeatedly times, has more specific exclusions.

Second, check condition statements. Many times cosmetic pieces aren't replaced. Faceplates, knob, cases, etc. So, your unit might be scratched, cracked, rubbed, etc.

Bottom column: research the item. If most of the failures go on within the first three months, and the refurb warranty is three months, you probably hold a winner. If most failure occur within months 4-6, and it comes with a month warranty, next you're looking at a much more risky proposition! Yes, you are correct Whatever the problem is, it is repaired.
I be looking at the refurbs also.
If you are talking more or less the HK ebay store, they offer like peas in a pod warranty as their new products.
After bidding on several AVR's, I found that I could bring the same piece, new, for alike price elsewhere on the internet.
I got a HK 435 7.1 AVR for $499.00 at onecall.com. It retailed for $1099.00.
Shop around, here are great deals out within.
You might want to look at Onkyo. They offer a standard product for a really good price, although I don't believe their recievers hold high current amplifiers.
Denon recievers are really apt also.
If they can not get it right the first time> ably maybe it works correctly but...it shows you their talent control may not be all it should be.
I'd buy from a flunky shop before I'd buy a re-manufactured item!
If the warranty is not as worthy or better than the original do not appropriate the chance with-out a service agreement > add to the price and now it is as expensive as the NEW one! Do they even give an extended service agreement? Probabally not! Shows you they do not believe in their products any!
Once crap is always crap.
Ratty sam is correct about everything that he said, wreak i bought a refurb unit and have scratches on the outside of the reciever but they covered it beside a full 1 year warranty, But like he said sometime they will not do that so spawn sure you ready into it, but as far as you asking is it worth it sometimes contained by my case as you would expect it saved me $200 freshly check into it.
