I am creating a media room contained by my basement and I am looking to use an HD projector to provide the video. I don't know plentifully about them so I be wondering if I could get a few tips. I know I want it to be capable of be 16:9 and I have roughly speaking a 100" to work with...the projector will be give or take a few 11' from the wall.

Goto your local glorious fi store and tell them what your looking for. They should be capable of set up a demo on a projector in your price inventory. They might even install for free. My shop I go to does. Plus any problems they can abet you right away. I had a beneficiary go doomed to failure and they gave me one to use while it be getting fixed. Ask questions.
this is a righteous tool based on your desires it search for a projector !

you with the sole purpose need to swarm the parameters similar to price range, contrast, resolution, distance to be projected, video format 16:9 or 4:3, ect...

you mount a cheap eyeshade or paint the wall with matted paint thats if the wall is smooth and flat. Well ... HD can mean 720p or 1080p. Both are available starting at just about $1000 and $2000 respectively. You don't want a "business" projector ... so focus on those designed for "home theatre".

What you propose is quite "doable" although you can store a bit of money and complexity by finding a projector that can be mounted on a shelf at the back of the room. That technique -- ideally -- you want a projector with vertical lens shift size. See the links for info on this and other terminology.

No projector is sound / best at everything, so you will need to determine your priorities. Prices ebb and flow fairly widely so nearby are better choices for certain requirements. The reviews are a great place to "get your foot wet". I highly recommend doing lot's of reading since jumping into anything specific.

Investigate the projector calculator at the 2nd contact ... it helps to mark out what projector will work in what room (with projectors this is particulalry high-status since it sometimes seems that everything depends on everything else (i.e. peak size, viewing distance, screen increase, projector location, etc).

See the reviews and info at the two links. I particularly recommend the comparative reviews at the first site (e.g. the annual review of 1080p projectors at the upper right), and the recommended home acting projectors at the second (link near the top of the key page).

Screens are a good DIY project (~$100 or less) since commercial screen acn be into the $thousands.

Hope that gives a starting place.
