Can I buy 2 tower speakers & append them to my 5.1 speakers on my 7.1 AV Tuner? Is that recommended? I have a 7.1 Surround Sound AV Tuner &

I have a 7.1 Surround Sound AV Tuner & a 5.1 JBL speaker system. I would similar to to add two speakers to own true 7.1, but am unsure of whether I should by two towers or just two more satelite speakers. The Tuner I enjoy is 100w per speaker.
Answers:
A tower system for the fronts
will provide you more mid-bass
impact than satellites for the
fronts. What you need to look
for is a set of two of towers that is
voice-matched beside your center
channel so the transitions surrounded by the
front are as seamless as possible.

Try looking for a pair of JBL towers
than contest your center channel.

am i right??

just use an AMPLIFIER You can add the two towers as the front chief speakers. You will need to set them up as voluminous and get the volume for the front channel correct (see your JBL owners manual beneath setting up speakers). The impedance for the towers may be different than the satellite speakers but this shouldn't pose a problem for your amp. They won't be matched sonically to the satelittes but the towers will (most likely) impart you much better sound surrounded by stereo and most of the sound from a 7.1 waterway setup comes from the center then from the front D. The surrounds get plentifully less signal and are for fill-in sounds so I contemplate you'll be very elated with a better set of fronts. After that, you may want to upgrade your center bridge speaker (I'd go near the match to the towers) when your budget allows.
