Connectiong ps2 to surround nouns wont work via optical output? Trying to connect my PS2 to my surround sound

Trying to connect my PS2 to my surround sound via Optical output doesnt seem to be to be working for me. I have go into system config and allowed the output to be switched on, but when i connect it up and play a game i hear zilch. I then realised i have to press the ''optical input' buttong on my dvd player, thinking this would work... but it didnt. im stuck please help me =[

Oh and also, my dvd player have a built in amplifier for my surround nouns speakers, incase you got the wrong opinion thinking my subwoofer had it built contained by that lol =]
Answers:

Make sure the cable are good, beside no sharp bends that can damage the strands.

Also, get sure the connections are fully seated in both the heir and the PS-2.

Plus, when selecting to initiate the optical output, be sure you press the right button to confirm the setting instead of canceling it. Does the optical cable glow red at the amp nouns end?

If not consequently the PS2 is not emmiting a signal and needs to be activate in the menu.

If it is next your dvd player needs to be looking at the right input.

If this help then Id be grateful if you could look in my blog and click on any of the adds for me..ta

Regards
M
