Audio Video Connection .... Please Help?
Hello,

Hello,
This is how I have my system connected right very soon.
Direct tv Hd Dvr to the HDTv (Hdmi to tv with seperate audio out to the tv)
2 Ch. reciever to the tv
non Hd Dvd player to the TV.
I basically bought the Onkyo Tx-sr 650 & the Jbl 5.1 Surround sound system and I own to hook all this stuff up to my HDTV while the mature system is being moved to the bedroom.
New Hook up:
Single Hdmi cable from Directv HD Dvr to Hdmi 1 contained by, on the back of the reciever ( No Audio out to the tv needed anymore, right?)
Non Hdmi Dvd player cable out to the final of the reciever (Dvd or video 1 input)
One single Hdmi cable from the Hdmi out of the reciever to the Hdmi input 1 of the tv
Basically one single HDMI cable from the back of the reciever to the rear of the tv as the HDMI cable will carry both audio and video.right?
To the best of my supportive, Directv box sends audio and video to the reciever and then the reciver transport it to the 5 speakers. right?
Please Help. confused

yup it should work, and if it doesnt can i have it? lol
You are correct. Your plan should work. You more or less enjoy it ... but a few comments.
I think you forgot an audio nouns from the non HDMI DVD player to the receiver to fetch sound (optical or digital coax). I'd suggest video be via a component cable to the addressee for the video from the DVD player.
If the HD DVR sends both audio and video on HDMI (some don't) your single connection to the heir will work (otherwise you need a separate optical/digital coax nouns to the receiver).
Since you have the JBL 5.1 speakers connected to the addressee (I assume), you don't need to verbs about audio to the TV. The HDMI cable to the TV from the addressee might carry audio and video, but you with the sole purpose need the video.
Your setup assumes the Onkyo will "transcode" (convert/mix) the video from the component input to addressee and send it to the HDMI output for the TV (It probably does, but save and it just does passthrough, you will want a component cable from the receiver to the TV (or easier, only bypass the receiver and jump direct from the DVD player to the TV with the video). With transcoding you can set the TV on HDMI input and give up it there (and do input switching on the Onkyo). Without, you will own to swithch the TV input between HDMI and Component.
