Can I do this by using a 3.5mm Jack to 2 x RCA? By connecting the jack into the "headphones" socket on the TV and then the 2 RCA (red and white) into the Hifi. Would this work?
Both are Panasonic brands by the means of access.

technically , yes.but the audio quality isn't great. The sound wouldn't be that great. The easiest course would be to hook your TV to a VCR using a coaxial cable, then run RCA plugs between the VCR and Stereo. Use the tuner contained by the VCR to change channel on your TV.
