Is Blu-ray dvd player stable now, especailly after what happen with Toshiba? I own to buy a new dvd player since my antediluvian one is out of order. I mull over it's not a good opinion to buy a ordinary dvd player today since blu-ray dvd player come out. Oponions are welcome..thankfulness for your help

Yeah, I second getting a PS3. It's the cheapest Bluray player on the market, and it will absolutely be upgradeable to any new Bluray profiles they release (e.g. the PS3 very soon supports PiP on Bluray movies. It didn't use to).
If you hate using the playstation controller as a remote, there's a Bluetooth remote you can buy (the PS3 doesn't own an IR port, so you can't use your universal remote).
Best bet is just to skulk it out. New technologys are rolling out every 6 months or so. If in entail of a blu-ray player why not get a PS3? PS3 benifits of both worlds. plus you achieve the extra incentives of getting a gaming system. Just my 2 cents. Before rushing to buy a Blu-ray player, consider your present and adjectives needs.
First -- sanction that Blu-ray is, and will likely remain, a premium HD alternative to -- not a replacement for -- DVD.
Second -- Blu-ray is useless to anyone in need an HDMI equipped HDTV (and preferably a 1080p model) -- i.e. the majority of consumers.
If you don't have an HDTV, or plan to buy one in the next 6-12 months, don't buy Blu-ray (at lowest possible not now).
If you have a 720p HDTV consider in moderation. Blu-ray will provide minor improvement contained by resolution -- relative to DVDs on a good upconverting player DVD player (See intermingle for example pictures that approximate the difference between Blu-ray and DVD), but whether this is sufficient to justify the large cost of the hardware ($300+) and the premium prices for disks ($5-$20/disk, depending where you are and the distinctive movie) is something only you can prefer.
DVD isn't going anywhere soon, and given that a good upconverting DVD player can be bought for $100 or smaller number (the best deal right in a minute is the discontinued Toshiba HD-A3 HD DVD player ... it's a great upconverter) a DVD player is still a sensible purchase for the majority of consumers.
There is little reason to bounce into this. The only player worth buying is the PS3. It's best to continue until later this summer when Profile 2.0 players will be introduced. And contained by the longer run Blu-ray player prices will decrease into the sub $200 reach.
In the meantime -- if you are interested in Blu-ray -- run to a store and view (preferably the same) movie on DVD and Blu-ray on an HDTV of one and the same size and resolution that you have (or plan to buy) FROM THE SAME DISTANCE as what you would use at home. Don't permit the salesperson demo with a HD video base Blu-ray disk. It will look great BUT they are not representative of what you will see on a movie and you have no comparison point to upconverted DVD. The total point of the demo is to see whether Blu-ray is worth the extra cost to you relative to upconverted DVD. For many it isn't. But if it is for you, you can buy knowing you did your homework and you will benefit.
