Audio setup for ps3 beside Onkyo SR800? I have a ps3 and Onkyo addressee and it
I have a ps3 and Onkyo addressee and it doesn't support audio with HDMI. Is within a way to catch true HD LPCM 7.1 sound by hooking it up another opening besides HDMI to receiver for video and Optical for audio?
Answers:
You should still receive 7.1 audio through your optical or coaxial digital audio. I have impossible to tell apart receiver and I dont believe there is much of a difference between TRUE HD audio
and the regular audio,
no. the solely other way to is to own a player that has multichannel out andthe ps3 doesnt enjoy that. I have equal problem as you and hope to be upgrading to a pioneer elite 94 txh. No.
Your "digital coax" and "optical" inputs will not deliver 7.1
Yamaha receiver deliver "presence channels" and anything else does the same for the backside speakers...but it is all "phantom" imaging singular to create a better sound stage.
Thats nice but... but not truly encoded within 7 (plus) channels
True 7.1 can one and only be achieved by re-mastered soundtracks contained by DTS-HD or Dolby Tru-HD, However...
... thats even just simulated
No movies or films own yet to be mastered (recorded) beyond Dolbly 5.1 or DTS 5.1
Good Luck
