Blu-ray information needed? I just read that Toshiba won't take home DVD

I just read that Toshiba won't take home DVD players anymore, and that some studios are only releasing blu-ray disc movies very soon. does that mean that my DVD player, and adjectives my DVDs in my collection are immediately obsolete? do you know how much MONEY I've get invested in these favorite movies? will blu-ray play on my standard DVD player? I'm still limp onto my VHs player and have TONS of dated VHS movies I love. As everything changes, I seize broker and broker.
Answers:  Your DVD collection is safe for the momment. Toshiba owned the HDDVD format - to be exact the format you are hearing Toshiba will no longer build. When they say Studios are releasing solely Blu-ray they mean as their HD solution. They will still release a standard DVD as ably. Blu-ray discs can only play on a Blu-ray player, so they will not play on your standard player.
