ok i live in the country but its not resembling i live in hickville! i hold earthlink dial up and i have a bellsouth phone number if i can catch phone why cant i get the internet??

look under www.5linx.net/lab lower than products and services, internet ~put in your phone number or fastener code and all the internet service providers will come up that are available within your area... moral luck!
DSL is available individual if you are close enough to the phone company's DSLAM. There are distance edges. If you are too far from the DSLAM, you are just not competent to get DSL.
I presume you are not served by a Cable TV provider any. They often tender a good service but they hold to serve you.
You may be forced to a satellite internet provider. These are faster than dial up but are not as dependable as is a wired link; they also hold periodic outages (weather related). did you try to catch DSL from earthling.net?
dsl sucks compared to cable, so if cable modem is available get that..
