0845 moveable phone number ? Wher or who do I ask for a moveable

Wher or who do I ask for a moveable phone number that starts 0845.
Are they reasonable surrounded by cost ?

The first question I hold to ask is why would you want one. These numbers are charged at a premium to callers but tender you as a user little in return (other than pain). They are also difficult to bid from abroad or from some department systems. You would probably be better off near a geographic 01/02/03 number or if you really require it, a genuine premium 09 number.

If you have a feeling you must have an 08 number, enjoy a look at the services provided by companies such as Flextel (www.flextel.co.uk) or google for Lowcall.

Edit: 0845 is not local as an above poster has mentioned. It's "LowCall" a marketing gimmick started at the time when local call cost a fortune and mobiles were lone for the rich. As time has gone on, the costs to give the name an 0845 number has gone up while other call have gone down. This is how "free" dialup internet providers are competent to make money when you dial their 0845 numbers. Typically a 1 min nickname to an 0845 number costs the caller around 8-15p on a landline or mobile, compaired to free on various home or mobile tarrifs for a 01/02/03 number.
Just to follow on from the other chap. Most providers can afford these numbers and the cost is variable. 0845 is a local rate number so youd pick up some cost, 0800, 0500 ie free numbers youd pick up the lot. 0870 would generate money from the tourist to you (thats why so many businesses use them) and 090 generate loads. 070 is the sneaky one at the moment which can generate almost as much as 090 but not as well specified. just type '0845 number' into google, theres loads of companies you can buy one from, starting from nearly a fiver for a regular number, up to hundreds for a 'platinum' number. its really easy to set one up. if you hold it diverted to your land splash, it doesnt usually cost you anything, but if you have it diverted to your mobile it costs you from 6 to 14 pence per minute ( you settle that, not the person calling you!! ). hope that make sense!
