Western electric rotary phone? I just get a black rotary phone from my

I just get a black rotary phone from my grandma. Everything works except the ringing on the phone. I can make call or when some one calls my house, I can hear the other phones ring and pick up my phone to answer. It doen't rng. Do I call for some sort of special phone jack for this phone? I already have the phone jack that connects to my phone. Do I have need of to buy a special one that connects to the wall? Why won't my phone ring?

dutiful luck
I have an out-of-date Western Electric. There sometimes is a small ring volume dial on the bottom of the phone. Try turning it and see if it will ring. If not, its most likely the phone itself.

Check out the website below because some Western Electric phones do not hold ringers. There is no special phone jack needed. There is probably something internally in the phone i.e. causing it not to ring. Depending on the year of the phone, which you can usually find on the bottom of the phone....those phones are worth alot of money. You can do a hunt on the internet and there are inhabitants that repair those old phones. Nothing wrong beside your connection or jack, in recent times something in the phone cause it.
