What are "national awareness " call?
Answer the phone & put it next to a radio or TV.
I use the Do Not Call registry For UK originated call, you can register with the Telephone Preference Service. Its free and to some extent it works.
For international call there is little you can do. My warning is to just dangle up on them, or alternatively if you have the time stay and chat for nearly 20 mins to waste their time.
As consider this.. If we adjectives did that, the callers would not own enough time surrounded by the day to disturb others.
