Why is this happening? Is something wrong near the phone line or jacks our phone uses? Our DSL works fine though. If culture try to call us, it basically beeps...if I give the name out, it will say "connected" and the timer will start, but in attendance is never any answering machine or not a soul has picked up. Help!

DSL will work at a degraded speed over a flawed line, be it inside trouble or out. If phone doesn't work at NID, it's an outside telco problem.
It sounds like its your phones cause the trouble. Go to your Network interface device. Its near your electric meter. unstop it up. Plug a corded phone into the testing port to see if you can give the name out from there. If it works at the carrying out tests box then you know the problem is inside your home. If it doesn't work afterwards you know problem is outside your home & then call upon your phone company. Do you enjoy Rogers?
I assume you've got the filter in place on adjectives the lines except the line your DSL is running on? You didn't mention them, so that I'd bring them up.
You might need to check power cord. My matured phone wired was burn. I didn't know. No one can phone me. Check all the phone. One can grounds another.
