Our answering machine hasn't worked for fairly some time.let me explain: whenever someone call, it rings 4 times like it's supposed to, and we hold caller ID which other works, but then after the 4th time it lull for a second like it's more or less to turnover to the answering machine--but then it doesn't. It keep ringing, and the caller ID go blank for a sec and comes back up near 'NO DATA' and then it only keeps ringing. The answering gadget never picks up. This happens no situation where we plug the phone within, and with ANY phone....so we've eliminate those possible problems. HELP!
btw we have an external modem----dunno if that affects anything... please comfort! This has be going on for almost a year now and is highly frustrating. thx! =]
Answers: The answering machine automatically answers after a predetermined number of rings. Its not the phone co slate, nor your other phones. It's the answering machine that's defective.
